The Kenneth R. Germann
Servanthood Scholarship |
|
History:
From 1972-1999, Mr. Ken Germann
capably served Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School, Decatur, Indiana, as
teacher. In that same time, he also served as the Minister of Music at
St. Paul Lutheran Church (Preble).
Mr.
Germann demonstrated professional and faithful service to the families
of our community. Therefore, to God’s glory and in Ken’s honor, the
PTL of Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School is establishing a Synodical
college scholarship in his name. |
| Purpose:
The purpose of the Kenneth R. Germann Servanthood Scholarship is
to give financial support to Wyneken graduates attending Synodical
colleges in preparation for a church-related career. Our hope is that,
through God’s blessings, we can help others who are dedicating their
life’s work to the Lord’s service. |
|
Guidelines:
1.
Any Wyneken graduate attending a Synodical college full-time (except
for colloquy students) in preparation for a career in church service may
apply for the scholarship. Additionally, this student must have signed a
Declaration of Intent at an LCMS institution.
2.
Financial need is not a qualification to enroll for this
scholarship.
3.
Candidates are expected to write an essay detailing two things: Their
church-related career goals, along with the courses of study which they
have chosen, and a brief explanation of what and/or who led them to this
career decision.
4.
All essays will be due by April 1st, being sent to:
Germann Scholarship Committee
Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School
11565 North US Highway 27
Decatur, IN 46733
5.
Candidates are to be available, either in person or by telephone,
for a brief interview with the Germann Scholarship Committee.
6.
The Germann committee shall then decide who will receive the
scholarship, and report this decision at the last PTL meeting of each
school year and their local home congregation.
7.
It is recommended that the award given to candidates be $750 per
academic year not to exceed five academic years for undergraduate
candidates (or seven academic years for colloquy candidates).
8.
Scholarship money will be paid directly to the college for unmet
tuition needs not to exceed $750 per academic year. |
|
Stewardship/Financial Administration:
1.
The PTL Treasurer shall be responsible for the administration of
the Germann Scholarship fund account.
2.
This account shall be self-perpetuating, and the PTL shall
designate $2,500 to its account each year. These monies are to be held
in account separate from the PTL general fund. Unused funds will
rollover to the following school year.
3.
The PTL treasurer shall make the deposits and withdrawals.
4.
Contributions to this fund can be solicited by personal donations
from individuals or groups, and/or through fundraising activities
through PTL.
5.
Trustees of the Scholarship Fund are the Germann Scholarship
Committee, the PTL President, and the PTL Treasurer. These trustees will
also determine the amount of money to be included in the scholarship
fund.
6.
GSC members will annually review the Germann Scholarship
guidelines. |
|
Committee:
The Germann Scholarship Committee chairperson is appointed by the
Wyneken PTL chairperson. It is the responsibility of the committee
chairperson to then select the group’s members, which will consist of
a Wyneken teacher and up to four laypersons. |
