Mrs. Rae Fuhrmann celebrates her
25th anniversary at Wyneken

Sunday, June 3, 2001

In 1976, Principal Norb Schaekel hired Wyneken's first and only kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Rae Fuhrmann. Those first years, the kindergarten class was housed at Zion--Friedheim as Wyneken awaited expansion (exactly the same scenario for our pre-school a quarter century later!). Later at Wyneken, a preschool was added, and it was also taught by Mrs. Fuhrmann. Some years she was responsible for nearly 60 children every day, a mind-boggling figure in this day-and-age of small class sizes.

To the glory of God and in her honor, the Wyneken Board of Christian Education celebrated her ministry with a gathering of our community. A luncheon was held at Wyneken's gymnasium on Sunday, June 3rd, to celebrate her tremendous milestone. Amongst the gifts given her was a tree planted in her honor, just behind the school flag pole. Mr. Ken Germann and Mrs. Donna Schieferstein also were tree-recipients in 1996 in recognition of their 25th anniversaries at Wyneken.

Enjoy the pictures from this gathering!
