Miss May was born in Lafayette, Indiana. She attended St.
James Lutheran School and Jefferson High
School. She is a 1999 graduate of Valparaiso University,
where her bachelor's degree was in special education instruction. For hobbies, she enjoys refinishing and redecorating, running, traveling (she has studied in Germany), and reading.  Her favorite sports teams include her native Purdue Boilermakers, Indiana
Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Miss May is no stranger to Lutheran education. Her father, Rev. Daniel May, formerly served St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Goeglein) in Fort Wayne, and is has been the longtime administrative pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette. Her mother, Mrs. Judy May, has served as both teacher and principal at St. James. Her sister, Stephanie Maxson, has taught at both St. John and Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran Schools in Fort Wayne.
