A Day at PreK...Wed., Jan. 24, 2001
a photo essay by Mr. Schwantz
One of the most compelling reasons for our need to expand our school is the large number of non-attached classrooms. The most distant classroom, of course, is our pre-kindergarten. They meet at Zion--Friedheim Church, nearly 4 miles west of the Wyneken campus. Led by Mrs. Anne Hess, the pre-k meets every day of the week. Children aged 4 meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 3's meet Tuesday and Thursday. I caught up with the 4-year old class as they completed a science experiment and started building a "quilt" from construction paper. God willing, the pre-kindergarten can be reunited with a new school building by Fall 2002.

Will the kernel float???

A happy Pate passes on the experiment to the next young scientist.

A happy result!

Mrs. Hess explains the quilting project to the children. This corresponds with the "Letter of the Week", which, of course, is 'Q'.

Lots of happy hands...
