| 1. You have been divided into one of six groups in your
classroom. Each group has been assigned a trait of good
character. The six traits are as follows: fairness,
citizenship, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, and caring.
You and your group members will visit two websites the Six Pillars of
Character and the
Do's and Don'ts of
Character. |

As a group print out one copy of the web and
list at least 4 meanings for your character
trait. |
| 3.
Go to the book
list and find your group's character trait. Look over the books
that cover your trait. Each member needs to pick a different book
from the list. |
4.
Read the book carefully, and write a paragraph that includes the
following:
- Name of
book
- The
character trait shown in your story
- What
person/thing in the story demonstrates the character
trait
- How the
character trait is shown in the story
- Be able
to answer the guided
questions. Your partners will see if you can answer them
easily when you meet with them.

| 5. Share
your paragraphs with your group members. Make sure each member has
correctly identified how the character trait was used and answered the guided
questions. |

| 6. The
class will now meet before sending you off on your final task. Your
group will show your books you read, summarize the book, and explain what
your character trait means by presenting your notes on your
web. |
7.
Based on all your character knowledge, you know now what it takes to be a
true hero. It's your turn to nominate someone for a hero
award.
- Think
of someone in your life who is your hero.
- Write a
paragraph that persuades us to also believe that they are a real life
hero.
- Include
2 character traits they possess supported with
examples.
- Write
in an organized manner. (have a beginning, middle, and
end)
